Growers has been a long time advocate of the La Mesa Dam Water Shed Ecological Park. It recognizes the enormous value of this natural resource, not only for its beauty, but also for its role in the survival of the populace.

The importance of the La Mesa Watershed cannot be over-emphasized. It is the last remaining forest of its size in Metro Manila. It acts as a major carbon sink in the metropolis, serving as the "lungs of the city." The La Mesa Watershed also serves as an efficient natural filtration system for heavy metals and other organic compounds, preventing contamination of the La Mesa Dam Reservoir, a major source of fresh drinking water for the 12 million inhabitants of Metro Manila. It prevents soil erosion, sedimentation and silt deposition in waterways, thus safeguarding and prolonging the functionality of the Reservoir.

Members of Growers and MarketReach Distributors Inc. plant thousands of trees for Mother Earth

Through the assistance of ABS-CBN's Bantay Kalikasan, Growers joined the "Save the La Mesa Dam Movement and actively stamped its mark by adopting (2) two hectares of the ecological park. In it, they helped plant a thousand trees to help ensure its preservation.

Each tree was planted on behalf of every business partner and friend of GFI Enterprises as gift of life.
